The essential criteria
Choosing a surveillance camera is an important decision for the security of your premises. Here are the main criteria to consider:
1. Image resolution
Resolution determines the quality of the captured image. We recommend at least Full HD (1080p) for everyday use, and 4K for areas requiring precise identification.
2. Night vision
Infrared (IR) allows effective surveillance even in total darkness. Check the IR range, which varies from 20 to 80 meters depending on the model.
3. Storage
You have two options: local storage (NVR + hard drive) and cloud storage. Local storage offers more control, cloud offers more flexibility.
4. Remote access
All our Hikvision cameras allow remote access via smartphone through the Hik-Connect app.
5. Installation environment
For outdoor use, choose cameras with at least IP67 protection rating. For indoor use, discreet dome models are often preferred.
Our recommendation
For a standard residential installation, we recommend a 4-camera HD kit with NVR and a 1TB hard drive, offering about 15 days of continuous recording.
For businesses, an 8-camera 4K kit with a 16-channel NVR is ideal for covering your entire premises.
